The Psychic Art of Tarot: Review by Kenn Payne

the psychic art of tarot

Author Kenn Payne posted an unexpected review of my book, The Psychic Art of Tarot on facebook. Here’s what he had to say:

I was super excited to get stuck in to Mat Auryn “The Psychic Art of Tarot“, the latest in his series that focuses on developing the psychic aspect of ourselves in application to spiritual and magical matters. And just like his previous two books, this one did not disappoint.

The “P” word can often stir up a wide variety of reactions amongst people, with the modern trope of the fraudulent medium clutching at general straws in an attempt to lure an unsuspecting individual to believe they have made contact with their dearly departed.

However, Mat delivers an open, relatable and instructive manual to developing the psychic self, and his central argument maintains that everyone possesses psychic abilities and can develop them through dedicated practice, utilising the framework of the exercises to tap into those innate, dormant abilities and to strengthen your intuition.

It should be stressed that it is *not* a book of tarot associations and correspondences; the market it littered with such books. This is a book on how to develop intuition and psychic abilities to further your capabilities as a tarot reader, whether personally or professionally; moving beyond the traditional approach of simply interpreting card meanings.

The book is filled with more than 70 practical exercises, making this an indispensable workbook for those seeking to actively explore the realm of their own psychic development, with Mat offering his unique and empowering perspective on tarot reading.

Mat has a very clear and relatable writing style, making the book a lot more relatable to contemporary readers, less stuffy and more easily accessible to beginners. That said, there is nothing he presents that couldn’t be of value to even the most experienced of tarot readers, blending together traditional tarot knowledge with the author’s own tried and tested psychic techniques.

Mat is also adept at incorporating relatability in his writing through the sharing of personal anecdotes and insights throughout the book that help to illustrate how the techniques given can be applied in practical teTrms, as well as to further inspire the reader to further their own psychic development.

Overall, The Psychic Art of Tarot is a modern and valuable addition to the genre of tarot literature and will undoubtedly become a go-to resource for anyone interested in deepening their tarot practice through the exploration of the intersection between tarot and psychic abilities. Mat’s practical and inspired approach will help readers best utilise the tools they need to unlock their intuition, transforming – and strengthening – their relationship with the tarot.
